Are we related to the Presidents Harrison????

Note to Family:

It’s a natural question to wonder if we’re related to the Presidents Harrison (William Henry Harrison and his grandson, Benjamin Harrison).  The answer is “Yes! Cousins!”

After working with our family genealogy for over thirty years, I was able to have our dad’s DNA done in 2010.  So many advances have been made in this research (and so many genealogists are accessing it) that I was able to link the results with the correct line of Harrisons who came from Cambridge, England to Virginia.

Peter Harrison was born at St. Andrews Cambridge, England in 1593.   He had four sons, William, Peter of Swavesey, Anthony of Over and Richard.

We are descended from Anthony of Over (1563 – 1620) and the Presidents Harrison (along with the Benjamin Harrison who was the Signer of the Declaration of Independence) descended from brother Richard.

Anthony's descendants lived many years in the Westmoreland, VA area before joining the great migration from Virginia to North Carolina to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in the late 1790's and then on to Bartholomew County in Southern Indiana in 1819.  In 1878, Walter Harrison and his wife, Melissa Caroline Harrison, went by wagon to North Central Kansas for land and a new life after the struggles of the Civil War.

And, now you know the rest of the story!
